First Tee of Central Washington
In June, 2008, The First Tee of Yakima began operating at two golf courses in Yakima: Suntides Golf Course, an 18 hole, par 70 course, with a complete practice area, and Fisher Golf Course, a 9 hole, par 3 course, which also offers practice chipping and putting greens. Beginner classes were also held at Kiwanis Park using “SNAG” introductory golf equipment. The following summer, several other Yakima city parks were added to the program.
During the summer of 2019, The First Tee of Yakima expanded to include Kittitas and Chelan Counties. As part of this expansion, our name changed to First Tee of Central Washington to better reflect the region our program serves.
In Yakima County, we are currently offering programing at Suntides, Fisher, Mount Adams Golf Course in Toppenish, and Henry Beauchamp Community Center Park. We are also in the process of building a new practice facility at the SOZO Sports Complex in Yakima.
Thanks to our expansion we have also begun to offer programing at Three Lakes Golf Club in Malaga, just outside of Wenatchee, in Chelan County. We hope to begin offering programing in Kittitas County by 2021.
Our program is open to youth ages 5 to 18, and we provide all necessary equipment. Full scholarships are also available for any child in need.
